Everette Harp and Phil Perry Are On Triple Bill For 2008 Summer Shows Coinciding with the success of his newest release, Love and Paragraphs (Ultimate Vibe,) which is currently holding tight to the number two position on the Smooth Jazz Charts, guitarist Chris Standring has once again assembled a triad of top talent for the third annual Soul Express tour. Joining Standring for these evenings of funk, soul and R&B will be saxophonist Everette Harp and vocalist Phil Perry, for a series of dates that will begin with a July 11 show at the Riverfront Jazz and Blues Festival in Omaha , and which will conclude on September 27 at Santa Fe Station in Las Vegas . Standring, who the London Times has cited as one of the most talented jazz guitarists, introduced the Soul Express bill in 2006, when he took the tour out with Jody Whatley and Jeff Lorber. The 2007 Soul Express line up featured Whatley and Everette Harp. Love and Paragraphs, which was released in April of 2008, features guest performances from both Lorber and Harp, and maintains the seductive vibe that is the trademark of every Soul Express live performance throughout its ten tracks. Smooth Jazz Therapy called the CD one of the sensations of the year, and Smooth Jazz News praised it for its catchy hooks and sublime electric guitar In addition to his upcoming shows with Soul Express, Standring will tour in the US and UK throughout the year in support of the CDs release. Saxophonist Dave Koz performed at a concert for peace in Israel on Monday (October 27th). The Grammy nominee was featured on the lineup for a gala concert titled Believe: Celebrating a Decade of Peacebuilding Activities in honor of the tenth anniversary of the Peres Center in Tel Aviv.

Other performers at the event included American Idol finalist Elliot Yamin, Donna Summer, Argentine singer Mercedes Sosa, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, and others.

Koz will be back in the States this weekend as the host of the annual Dave Koz & Friends At Sea Cruise, which departs Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday (November 2nd). The cruise, which will be crammed with top smooth jazz talent, will sail to Grand Turk in Turks & Caicos, St. Thomas and St. Barth's in the Virgin Islands, and Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas before returning on November 9th.  read more »

Dave Koz Greatest Hits , the first-ever retrospective album from the world renowned instrumentalist, composer and Smooth Jazz Network radio personality debuted at No. 1 on both Billboards Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and iTunes Jazz Album chart. Meanwhile, the lead single of the album, Life In The Fast Lane claims the No. 1 spot on the influential publication Radio & Records Smooth Jazz Indicator chart. The album, which was completely re-mastered by the legendary Bernie Grundman, contains 11 Koz classics and four brand new tracks. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recently announced that Koz will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2009, thus making it an even more fitting time for the release of his Greatest Hits collection. Over the summer, Koz went into the studio with Barry Manilow, who asked him to play sax on three tracks for his upcoming album, and he also taped a performance for the upcoming PBS special Lights a Hanukkah Celebration. In the past week, Dave appeared on Entertainment Tonight, performed at a fundraising concert for Barack Obama, at the ET-People Magazine Emmy party, and picked up the Radio & Records Personality of the Year award for his show on Broadcast Architectures Smooth Jazz Network. Hell wrap up his summer tour this Saturday, September 27th, with an appearance at KTWV Wave Fest at Los Angeles Greek Theatre.
